Frequently Asked Questions [some courtesy of Pizaz]

Q:	What is this thing, anyway?
A:	It's a spreadsheet designed to take away 99% of the
hassle of designing a vehicle, and put it behind the scenes
where it belongs. A lot of the calculations are preset, so
that all that is needed is the entry of certain variables.
This streamlines the process considerably.

Q:	What's the difference between this sheet and v5.1?
A:	This sheet allows differentiation between Short and
Long occupancy vehicles, showing the maintenance interval
(if Short) or the man-hours/day (if Long).

Q:	Do I still need Vehicles to make a vehicle?
A:	Yes. All components need to be entered manually; the
sheet takes care of the calculations that follow.

Q:	Hey, the volume to area doesn't always give the same
results as the Vehicles book! What gives?
A:	I don't use the table; I use a formula [vol^(2/3)*6]
which gives a smoother progression of results (though averaging
lower than the book).

Q:	What's with all these different Performance things?
Which one do I use?
A:	Figure out the ones you want, duplicate the ones you
will need more of, and then delete the ones you are sure you
don't need (frex, the average aircraft has no need of Submerged).
Multimode vehicles will use more than one; aircraft need both
ground and air performance, while a vertol aircraft needs to
use Vertol as well as Wings (and Gliding, if you are optimistic
about its chances if it loses power).

Q:	What versions of Excel or Works do I need?
A:	I'm not sure about Excel, but I find that Works 4.0
does me OK (the Excel version comes from that). Currently I'm
using Works 4.5a, but I don't think 4.0 users will be hampered.
Works 3.1.1 does have difficulties.

Q:	Does the sheet handle Vehicle Additions?
A:	So long as we're talking components, yes. If you are
talking about performance, then you'll have to rig the sheet
to work that out for yourself.

Q:	What types of vehicles can I create with it? All types?
A:	Anything that is possible to create within the Vehicles
rules.
NOTE: the sheet can NOT handle the concept of different
subassemblies having different structures (optional rule,
VE19). Future versions might include this - but it will
	mean a lot of work...

Q:	Can it do Mecha and Robots?
A:	It's fully compatible with Mecha; it can also be used
with Robots, but as the Robots format is a little different,
it can be slightly awkward. However, it is quite possible.

Q:	Will the future version automatically provide drop down
boxes for the frame codes and other codes so I don't have to
memorize them or keep looking them up?
A:	I'll be keeping the current version, with explanatory
boxes right below. All you need to do is insert the right
code in the right box. (Plus, I don't know how to do drop-
down boxes.) As an additional aid, I have included a telltale
that gives you the actual meaning of each code as you enter it.

Q:	What's slated for version 6.0?
A:	No idea. Suggestions will be considered.

Q:	How come there's not many questions here?
A:	I'm waiting for people to ask them.
